Iran Oil Exports Average 2.17 mbd: NIOC Chief

The CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) said the country’s crude oil export stood at average 2.170 million barrels per day (mb/d) over the course of the previous Iranian calendar year of 1396 which ended on March 20.

Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the 23rd Iran Oil and Gas Show in Tehran, Ali Kardor said the country’s crude oil production capacity is 4 mb/d, while an average 3.9 mbd was produced during the previous calendar year.

He underlined Iran’s efforts to gain a firm toehold in the oil market in order to facilitate its oil exports, adding, “Trying to jockey with rivals in the market in order to preserve and increase the country’s market share is natural and has nothing to do with the US president’s remarks about pulling out of the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action).”

Asked whether NIOC worries the demand for Iran’s crude supplies would diminish in case Washington walks away from the JCPOA, the official said: “There is nothing to worry about even if that would be the case as all necessary arrangements have been taken.”
