Special Economic Petrochemical Zone (Mahshahr)
The Special Economic Petrochemical Zone, located in a unique natural and geographical position and enjoying legal facilities granted to special zones, has been established to develop industry and trade, particularly in the petrochemical sector and associated industries, pursuing economic, social and national interests, attracting new technologies and creating jobs.
The Special Economic Petrochemical Zone officially started out in 1998 as a subsidiary of National Petrochemical Company, pursuant to a decision dated July 1997 of the Supreme Council of Free Trade-Industrial Zones, to manage and realize development of industrial and economic activities particularly in the petrochemical sector. It is open to domestic and foreign investment.

Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (Assaluyeh)
The Pars Special Economic Energy Zone (Assaluyeh) is located off Persian Gulf waters, covering Pars I (South Pars), Pars II (Kangan) and Pars III (North Pars)
Acting on behalf of National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Organization is tasked with steering operations in the zone. The Organization was established in 1998 to support development of the largest gas field in the world (South Pars gas field) as well as the Golshan, Ferdowsi, Mand, North Pars and Farzad gas fields.
