On behalf of the Government and people of Islamic Republic of Iran, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency, Esteemed Government and Great People of Nigeria.</p> <p> </p> <p>Undoubtedly, His Excellency’s round-the-clock efforts as the OPEC Secretary General to establish solidarity and unity among Member Countries, along with his trust in collective wisdom and efforts made for creating understanding have always helped the Organization and its Members.</p> <p> </p> <p>The outcomes of His Excellency’s timely and tangible measures taken over the past six years have helped our Organization, and the world economy to promote stability. Gen.</strong></p> <p> </p> <p>Iran’s OPEC Governor Amirhossein Zamaninia sent a letter of condolence to Dr Adedapo Odulaja, Governor of OPEC for Nigeria, to express his condolences to the late OPEC Secretary General Mohamad Sanusi Barkindo who passed away on Tuesday.</p> <p> </p> <p>The message reads as follows:</p> <p> </p> <p>“Dear professor Odulaja</p> <p> </p> <p>I received the sad news of passing away of our brother Barkindo, our distinguished Secretary General, with shock, disbelief and a heavy heart. As I said in the last BoG meeting when we gathered in his honor to recognize his many services to OPEC members and the international community as a whole, he was a “gentleman and a scholar”.
